Polish singer Dziewanna released a new music video for Wilczysko, a song inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher saga.

Wilczysko means “wolf” in Polish. Fans of Geralt of Rivia will certainly recognize the animal as a symbol of the School of the Wolf in Kaer Morhen, where Geralt received his training as a witcher.

“The song tells the story of a wanderer looking for a place in the world, the wild element, the mystery that we have inside ourselves… The fate of a lone wolf. About meeting your own shadow — and reconciling with it.”

Dziewanna is the Polish form for Devana, named after the Slavic goddess of the wild nature, forests and hunting. The goddess honored by Agnieszka Suchy, singer and songwriter of fantastic, folk, folk metal and medieval music reflects well the theme of her songs. Passionate about Slavic culture, as well as medieval and romantic literature, her music videos usually have beautiful natural landscapes as background

Dziewanna was part of the foundation of the Folk Metal band Othalan, which ended its activities in 2018. She is also a co-founder of Projekt Saga, inspired by ancient Nordic music. Her solo career as a folk musician began in 2016, but her involvement with music is much older. She has been composing since the age of sixteen, has participated in musicals and won several national awards in Poland. When she is not composing (or recording), she usually performs at medieval festivals, conventions and archaeological festivals.

In 2016, she published the single Pod znakiem Wilka (Under the sign of the Wolf), based on the love story between Geralt and Yennefer. It was the first of her songs dedicated to The Witcher saga. The singer uses elements of traditional music and singing techniques mixed with themes from fantasy franchises.

In addition to singing, she plays guitar and other instruments, writes poems and song lyrics, seeking inspiration in medieval culture, fantastic literature, romantic poets, as well as the culture and beliefs of the ancient Slavs, Vikings and Celts.
