Vsevolod Ivanov was born on August 14, 1950, in the Russian city of Belomorsk during the Soviet era. Until 1974, he took part in municipal and regional exhibitions for amateur artists. He graduated from the Tver School of Art in 1978, specializing in graphic design. From that year onwards, he began to exhibit at the Union of Artists of Russia.

His paintings draw inspiration from Russian history and traditions. At their core, they offer a vision of what he considers a stolen and lost past of ancient Rus’, embracing the Indo-European heritage of the Vedas and Slavic mythology. He believes that, particularly, the medieval Russian history is distorted.

His works predominantly feature idyllic landscapes, depicting the ancestors of his people in contact with gods, dragons, and other mythical creatures. The artist promises to continue painting on themes related to Russian history and culture as a way to resist what he perceives as the globalization of art.
