Mongolian folk metal band The HU released a music video for the song The Great Chinggis Khaan, in honor of Emperor Genghis Khan.
The song will be part of the group’s first album, The Gereg, a reference to the diplomatic “passport” issued by the Mongol empire at the time of the Great Khan (1162-1227), founder of the largest contiguous empire in history. The album will feature nine tracks and will be released on September 13 on the American label Eleven Seven Music.

The HU was founded in 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia, by the band’s producer, Dashka, and members N. Temuulen (Temka), T. S. Galbadrakh (Gala), G. Nyamjantsan (Jaya), B. Enkhsaikhan (Enkhush). The four members of the group have degrees in music.

Mixing instruments and the throat singing of traditional Mongolian music, with the bass and drums of rock and metal, they created what they call Hunnu rock. The term Hunnu is a reference to the ancient empire formed by the confederation of Eurasian nomads, the Huns. The name HU is the Mongolian radical for the word “human”.

The band gained great notoriety on the internet in 2018 when it released its first two music videos, Yuve Yuve Yu and Wolf Totem, surpassing 20 million views.
The HU has toured around Asia. In 2019, they made their first tour in Europe and are preparing to arrive in Canada and the United States in September, where they will continue to perform until December.
