Finnish folk band Akkajee released a new album, titled Lastenkerääjä (Child Collector).

Featuring 6 tracks, the album is centered on the mind of a child, mixing reality with the far reaches of the young one’s imagination, translated into impulsive actions and experiences.

The duo formed by Meriheini Luoto (nyckelharpa, vocals etc.) and Iida Savolainen (viola, vocals etc.) draws inspiration from Finnish folktales using both folk and self-made instruments. The name of the project is derived from “Akka”, Finnish for “a head strong woman with a decisive attitude and a sharp tongue”.

Lastenkerääjä was released in CD and digital formats. A vinyl version will also be released soon. You can order the album from the band’s web store.
