Gealdýr‘s new single, Gimlé (alternately “Gimli” in Icelandic), is a reference to a place where the worthy survivors of Ragnarök are said to live on a mountain in a golden-roofed hall, as written in the Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda. The place is described as the most beautiful place in Asgard, surpassing even the Sun in its beauty.
The song maintains the spirit of Jonathan Barendsma‘s previous works, but with a definitely new touch that helps create an even more mystical atmosphere than usual.
Lyrics: Gealdýr – Gimlé
Sal sér hon standa sólu fegra,
gulli þakðan á Gimléi;
þar skulu dyggvar dróttir byggja
ok um aldrdaga ynðis njóta.
Gimlé
Gimlé
Gimlé
þar skulu dyggvar dróttir byggja
ok um aldrdaga ynðis njóta.
ynðis njóta
ynðis njóta
ynðis njóta
þar skulu dyggvar dróttir byggja
ok um aldrdaga ynðis njóta.
Translation: Gealdýr – Gimlé
I see a hall standing there, more beautiful than sunlight, thatched with gold at Gimlé. There bold men will dwell and enjoy cheer throughout their lives.
Gimlé
Gimlé
Gimlé
There bold men will dwell and enjoy cheer throughout their lives.
Enjoy cheer
Enjoy cheer
Enjoy cheer
There bold men will dwell and enjoy cheer throughout their lives.
