Vikings Chant (Alfar Fagrahvél Edition) is now available, a reissue of the first album of the French Nordic folk band Skáld.
The new version of the acclaimed debut by the French trio Justine Galmiche, Mattjö Haussy and Pierrick Valence brings five bonus songs, totaling eighteen tracks.
The album features two unreleased tracks by Skáld, Hross and Öll Of Rök Fira, as well as three covers versions of songs by the Rock bands The Doors, White Stripes and Pink Floyd. The tributes are joined by the “skáldic” version of Icelandic singer Björk’s Jóga, which is present in the original edition of Vikings Chant.
The subtitle of the reissue, Alfar Fagrahvél (“fair elves’ wheel”), is a reference to the Sun in the poem Alvíssmál of the Poetic Edda).
