Hungarian Pagan Folk band The Moon and the Nightspirit announced the details about their upcoming album, Aether, that will come out on June 19th.

Aether will be released by the German label Prophecy Productions in Digipak CD, gatefold LP (black and limited transparent violet) and a 2-CD box set, including a Digipak CD, 4-track bonus CD (one alternate album track, three live recordings), mini poster and a hand-signed and numbered postcard (limited to 500 copies).

The Moon and the Nightspirit have released six albums thus far, making use of a wide range of instruments. However, after 17 years, the band decided to recalibrate the songwriting process, balancing the female and male sides of their music, whereas previously Ágnes’ vocals were at the foreground. For instance, they have intensified the use of harsh vocals.

“The Moon and the Nightspirit invites the listener into the moss-grown heart of the forest, into the emerald world of ageless, sylvan realms, weaving a web where threads of ancient mysticism combine with dreamy atmospheres, where World Music acquires a bewitching pagan aura.”

The Moon and the Nightspirit was founded in 2003 by the duo Ágnes Tóth and Mihály Szabó. Since the beginning, their purpose was to combine a very particular form of mythical folk music with the extremely beautiful paintings by singer and multi-instrumentalist Ágnes, both imbued by pagan mysticism and dreamy atmospheres. The two aspects of their art bring to life a world where ancient legends and folklore are ever present.

Along the years, they have performed in many of the major folk music festivals around the world, such as Trolls et Legendes (Belgium), Wave-Gotik-Treffen (Germany), Festival Mediaval (Germany), Faeriecon (USA), Cheoyong World Music Festival (South Korea), Castlefest (The Netherlands) and Wacken Winter Nights (Germany). They have shared the stage with renowned artists like Blackmore’s Night, Corvus Corax, Arcana, Faun, Negura Bunget and Wardruna.
