Štěpán Honc (PerKelt), Kati Rán (Rán) and Oliver S. Tyr (Faun) joined the musicians of the Castlefest Folk Collective to record the exclusive song Hope is the Thing with Feathers.

The initiative was made in order to support Castlefest, one of the largest pagan folk music festivals in the world. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s edition of the festival, that was supposed to take place between July 30th and August 2nd, had to be cancelled.

Renowned musicians like Oliver S. Tyr, Kati Rán and Štěpán Honc worked with artists from Sowulo, SeeD, Pyrolysis and many other great folk bands to deliver a beautiful song for a great cause.

“We hope the song may serve as a reminder that even in challenging times there is always a silver lining on the horizon, that can become a little bit brighter when we work together for a common cause. With you together, we like to share our collective made single with Vana Events, so that we can all meet again at the beloved Castlefest festival in better times to come.”

“Hope is the with feathers” is a quote by American poet Emily Dickinson. According to Oliver, it conveys the idea that hope is out there, waiting for you. You just have to be brave and pick it up.

The initiative to compose the song came from Tim Elfring (Pyrolysis, Imbue) and Sara Saar (SeeD, Anúna). They had the idea to connect all these musicians who became relatively idle all of a sudden. All of the musicians received the same guitar track and had to record their own ideas independently, to be edited subsequently.

Once they had the final result, they decided to dedicate it to Castlefest, as a way to give back to the festivals that give them the opportunity to get to know each other personally in the first place.

In order to materialize the support, Vana Events is charging 4 euros (or more, if you so wish) for the digital download of the song. You’ll receive a link to download the .mp3 file after the payment in the confirmation screen and in the confirmation e-mail. All of the proceeds will go to the organizers of Castlefest.

You can order the song from Vana Events’ Shop.
