Sigurboði Grétarsson (Nordic Folk – Iceland) released his debut solo 11-track album, titled Kvæðamaðr.
The Icelandic musician aimed to give the listener the feeling of getting their home visited by a Skáld, singing his songs and playing the lyre, the taglharpa and the drum. He is, of course, referring to the traveling poets, teachers and storytellers of Nordic myths and folklore of yore.
Will Hunter (Vévaki) was responsible for mixing and producing the album.
Sigurboði Grétarsson is well known for his multiple collaborations with the likes of Danheim, Heldom, Munknörr, Vévaki, Ursprung and Rúnfell. As a musician, he has also written the soundtrack for the 2018 Italian short film Den tyste guden and is the creator of the shamanic music project, Læknishljómar, as well as the symphonic black metal one-man band, Niðafjöll. If it wasn’t enough, he is also a talented craftsman.
Kvæðamaðr is available on all major digital platforms.
