The Mongolian folk metallers of The HU paid an homage to Metallica by making their own version of one their classics, Sad But True.

Their rendition of one of the songs from Metallica’s eponymous album, aka The Black Album, was recorded in the Mongolian language, using both Folk and Metal instruments. It is part of The Best Of Better Noise Music: 15 Years Of Rock, the series that will celebrate 15 years of the label Better Noise Music in 2021, featuring new versions of rock and metal bands from their catalog.

Singer and Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle) player Galbadrakh Tsendbaatar (Gala) spoke about the decision to cover the tune.

“Like millions of people around the world, Metallica has been a huge influence and inspiration for us as music fans and musicians. We admire their 40 years of relentless touring and the timeless, unique music they have created. It is a great honor to show them our respect and gratitude by recording a version of Sad But True in our language and in the style of The HU.”

Due to the pandemic, The HU had to interrupt a tour that would take them all around the world. In order to keep some closeness to the fans in the meantime, they released in July a making-of documentary of their debut album, The Gereg.
