Tuatha de Danann (Celtic folk metal – Brazil) revealed a lyric video for the traditional Irish song The Molly Maguires, featuring Keith Fay (Cruachan) and Kane O’Rourke.
The song will be featured on the veteran band’s upcoming album, In Nomine Éireann, which is under an ongoing crowdfunding campaign. The release will feature their own versions of traditional Irish songs, as well as a new composition with the same spirit.
Tuatha de Danann also released a karaoke version of the song, for those musicians who would like to try their hands at playing and recording cover versions of it, while supporting the band. The karaoke track can be purchased on their official web store and is accompanied by a beautiful digital booklet with the chords and lyrics.
Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Bruno Maia talked about a bit about the (re)creation process of The Molly Maguires.
“This song is a classic of the traditional, rebel Irish songbook and we have put some punk vibes on it. To give a little more dynamic, we added a ‘Reel’ in the middle [‘The Fermony Lasses Reel’ @ 1:45 min] to let it even more interesting.”

Tuatha de Danann releases music video for ‘Turn’
The band was joined by Cruachan’s legendary vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Keith Fay, and by the Irish traditional music expert, the fiddler Kane O’ Rourke. The illustrator Edgar Franco was responsible for the art of the video.
The Molly Maguires was a 19th-century secret society from Ireland that was also active in England and in the United States. They revolted against the injustices imposed by the British empire, such as the forbidding of the Gaellic languange, as well as the seizing of land and political rights. The Irish were forced to work on land that belonged to them and even pay for its use. The name of the society was allegedly inspired by a woman who rose against the landlord who exploited her.
In Nomine Éireann will be released later this year.
