Faroese singer Eivør and Scottish composer John Lunn recorded a video playing the title song for Netflix’s The Last Kingdom TV show directly from their homes.
Charged with the wilder side of Eivør’s bewitching voice and accompanied by Lunn’s distorted double bass, the song was one of the first compositions written for the series and gives life to The Last Kingdom‘s opening sequence.
Lunn was impressed by Eivør rhytmic throat singing for Trøllabundin and invited the singer to join him in London to write the music for the show. He gave her total freedom to “do her magic” and the result is the powerful theme we get to listen at the start of every episode.
