Bulgarian Slavic folk metal band Aegonia released the music video for Samodiva, a song from the album The Forgotten Song.
The video is actually the sequel to The Maid and the Mountain, a music video released in 2018. Both were recorded in the beautiful Ródope Mountains, which stretches from Greece to Bulgaria. Filming took place in the western portion of the mountain range in winter and in the eastern portion in autumn. The waterfall scenes were filmed at the Krushuna Falls.
“Samodiva” is the name of a magical creature from Bulgarian folklore, a woman in white dress and bare feet who lives in the forest. The word is made up of two other terms that mean “alone” and “wild”.
The following songs are part of the band’s debut album, The Forgotten Song. Released in 2019, it is a concept album based on the fantasy book of the same name, written by Bulgarian author Nea Stand. The volume is the first in the Tales From The Lands Of Aegonia saga.
Despite the titles in English, the band’s songs and Stand’s books are written in Bulgarian.

Aegonia is a band that mixes elements of folk, atmospheric, doom, gothic and fantasy metal music. Hailing from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, the group was formed in 2011 and only released their debut album in 2019.
In an interview with the website Folk-metal.nl, singer and violinist Elitsa Stoyanova said that, in the beginning, the band composed only as a hobby, without planning anything for the future. The songs came out naturally, improvised.
After writing 12 compositions, they started recording them. However, they were not satisfied with the result and realized that they needed to improve the arrangements, the techniques of instrumentation, singing, recording, mixing and mastering.
The effort and the wait were worth it!
