Braia, the side project of Bruno Maia (Tuatha de Danann), released its second album, titled …e o Mundo de Cá (…and the World Here).
The mastermind behind the legendary Celtic folk metal band, Tuatha de Danann, brings another blend of Irish folk with traditional Brazilian music, but within a progressive rock approach.
Featuring 10 tracks, …e o Mundo de Cá is thematically based on the country’s history and culture, specially those of the state of Minas Gerais. Unlike the debut album, this one is entirely instrumental and delved even deeper into the Brazilian traditional music, notably samba, baião and moda de viola. The predecessor, …e o Mundo de Lá (…and the World There), was released 14 years ago.
For the recording of the album, Bruno Maia (viola caipira, guitar, banjo, flutes, bouzouki, guitars, melodica and keyboards) gathered a team of renowned musicians from the Brazilian folk and heavy metal scenes: Rafael Castro (keyboards), Alex Navar (Irish bagpipe), Anderson Silvério (double bass) and Fabrício Altino (drums). Joining the team as guests, some other notable musicians: the bass player from the world famous power/progressive metal band Angra, Felipe Andreoli, guitar player Kiko Shred, fiddler Kane O’Rourke, violinist Daiana Mazza (ex-Braia) and Bruno’s bandmates from Tuatha de Danann, Edgard Britto, Nathan Viana and Giovani Gomes.
The album was released in digipack-CD and digital formats. You can order it directly from the band’s web store.
