Munknörr (Nordic folk – Uruguay/Greece) released their fourth album, titled Eikthyrnir, singing about the inherent dualities of nature.
Leaving behind the runic themes of their previous works, the band returns with an album about the circle of life and death, as well as the contrasts between light and darkness. It also departs a bit from its previous releases musically, incorporating influences from other cultures.
Eikthyrnir starts with the title-track, which refers to the stag of Norse mythology who creates rivers from its horns, thus representing life. It ends with the songs Andleg Umbreyting (Spiritual Transformation) and Depurð (Melancholy), representing death. It’s a very personal and spiritual release for the duo composed by Damián Schneider and Aethelwyne.
