Futharuna, the second album by the Uruguayan Nordic folk project, Munknörr, is now available.

The release includes nine tracks of a mix of Nordic, shamanic and tribal sounds, with a darker and more mystical atmosphere. The album also features the Greek singer Aethelwyne, who lent her beautiful voice to some of the songs.

“This album will take you on a journey back to the times when the Nordic people were in contact with shamanism.

9 compositions (9 due to the importance of this number in the Nordic culture) 8 runes and Odin, because it represents when the Allfather is going to sacrifice to obtain the knowledge of the runes.”

Founded in 2018, Munknörr is a one-man musical project, created by Damián Schneider. The musician was born in Germany, but moved to Uruguay at the age of six, where he still lives. His debut album, Aegishjalmur, was released in early 2019.

Before creating the project, Damián composed epic music, as well as Nordic and Celtic music. When he realized that he identified more with these latter genres, due to his interest in the cultures of these peoples, he decided to dedicate himself to the sound that he adopts today. For this, he mixes Nordic, Celtic, shamanic, and Mongolian elements, together with sounds recorded by himself in the midst of nature, creating the proper environment to evoke his sources of inspiration in the mind of the listener.

Damián divides his time between composing music for the project, his job and taking care of his five-year-old daughter. He claims that she is his number one fan and that she keeps humming Munknörr’s compositions.
