Rúnahild revealed Of Darkness and Light, an ode to two poles that constitute our very beings, helping to find meaning and inspiration between trauma and healing. The new release is now available digitally, anticipating a physical version later this year.

Rúnahild’s approach to her music

The Norway-based French multi-faceted artist pours her heart entirely in her own compositions. For this very reason, she doesn’t shy away from drawing energy from her darker moments.

“The theme of darkness and light is a deep-rooted concept throughout all my releases. It feels like each album is just another layer of the same journey ever spiraling inward into the infinite depth of the unconscious. It is a journey to come home to oneself and to one’s core energy by holding space for both the darkness and the light within.”

Recently diagnosed with autism, she can finally look back to her entire journey with a new understanding of how she relates to the world and to her own creations. With the new album, she tells us how she dealt with her darker hours, while being aware that others will find their own meaning to the words and songs therein contained.

Of Darkness and Light physical edition

On 19 October 2024, Of Darkness and Light will also be released on CD accompanied by an 80-page book. This book serves as a compilation of personal narratives reflecting the healing journey that inspired the creation of the entire album. Additionally, it features a selection of the artist’s favorite nature photographs captured over the past 14 years of residing in Norway.

For those who opt to download the digital album on Bandcamp, the book’s contents are exclusively provided as a PDF file. While this digital version offers a glimpse into the stories, it doesn’t include most of the accompanying photographs. Nonetheless, the artist felt it essential to share these narratives alongside the digital release.
