The Nordic folk duo from Norway, Agðir, released a music video for the song Galdrekvende.

Lyrics – Galdrekvende

Drøypt i blod
Dvelja der ei tid
Kringum stend
Vanene di veit
Galdrekvende

Translation – Conjurer Woman

Soaked in blood
Linger there for a while
Standing enclosed
The Vanir knows
Conjurer woman

Agðir was founded in 2017, drawing inspirations from bands like Wardruna, Danheim, Heilung, Nytt Land and Forndom. The band is named after a (at least) 1.500 years old name for the district in the southernmost part of Norway, that predates even the Old Norse language. Its meaning is unknown, however its speculated that it is related to the Proto-Germanic word  “island”, while others claim the word means “edge”, as in “the edge of the country towards the sea”.

The band uses several historical instruments such as the talharpa, the lyre, framedrum, different types of horns, such as the prillarhorn and the Jew harp. They also use a variety of percussion instruments made from animal bones, wood, nuts and other natural materials. The majority of the instruments are crafted by singer and multi-instrumentalist Ruben Gentékos.

Members

  • Ruben Gentékos (vocals, multiple instruments)
  • Tyra Rachel Torp-Bangsund (vocals, multiple instruments)
