Einar Selvik (Wardruna) announced Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – The Wave of Giants, a collection of his original songs for the game soundtrack.
Ubisoft’s new game is another digital RPG that reached folk musicians in order to enrich the player experience with truly epic soundtracks. After Percival (The Witcher 3), Eivør (God of War), The HU (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order), Heilung (Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II) and even Einar Selvik himself (Rend, League of Legends), it was time for one of the most popular game franchises to feature the Norwegian modern Skald.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – The Wave of Giants includes some tracks that aren’t featured in the 47-track official soundtrack or in the EPs. It will be released via Lakeshore Records digitally on December 4th and on vinyl in early 2021, but you can already pre-save the album stream.

Einar talked about the album’s title.
“’Wave of Giants’ Is an old Norse poetic metaphor meaning ‘poetry’ that refers to the myth when the god Odin stole the mead of poetry from Kvasir the Jotun/giant. The title felt very appropriate since much of my efforts on AC Valhalla has been about giving voice to the Skalds and the poetic traditions that once laid at the heart of the Norse culture. New, as well as existing Old Norse poetry accompanied by ancient Norse and Nordic instruments, tonalities and rhythms — both the format of minimalistic and unpolished live-in-studio recordings as well as fully produced pieces more similar to the soundscape of Wardruna. This album gives a good taste of my work in the game as well as a feel for the game itself!”

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
The game is based on the conflicts between the Viking invaders and the Saxons during late 9th century. The player controls a (either male or female) warrior named Eivor, who’ll have to battle Wessex’s King Alfred the Great’s army in order to begin a new life far away from your home country in Norway.
The game was released on November 10 for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
