Mongolian folk metal band The HU recorded a song for Electronic Arts’ Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order game soundtrack.
Day after day, it seems that The HU’s members have set out to continue the mission initiated by Emperor Genghis Khan to try to conquer the world. After taking the Internet by storm in September 2018 with the music video for Yuve Yuve Yu, the group started a tour around the world taking with them their energetic and unique sound.
The band members revealed to Revolver magazine that they have been Star Wars fans since childhood. For this reason, in 2019, the quartet formed by T.S. Galbadrakh (Gala), B. Enkhsaikhan (Enkush), G. Nyamjantsan (Jaya) and N. Temuulen (Temka) recorded a contribution to the latest Star Wars video game released by Electronic Arts.

They also said that they originally composed the lyrics in Mongolian, before converting it to a fictional language that fits the universe created by George Lucas. For this, they sought their spiritual guides and were inspired by Tengrism and its concept of the Eternal Blue Sky, drawing a parallel with the Force present in Star Wars.
The song is titled Sugaan Essena (The Black Thunder) and deals with the warrior heart and spirit characteristic of the game’s protagonist, Cal Kestis.
However, The HU is not the first folk band to feature on one of the increasingly elaborate digital RPG game soundtracks. The Polish band Percival became notorious for taking part in the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt soundtrack. Other musicians like Einar Selvik from Wardruna (Rend), Heilung (Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II) and Faroese singer Eivør Pálsdóttir (God of War) have also left their mark on video games.
