Polish Slavic folk band Percival, known for the soundtrack to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will stream their live performance via YouTube next Saturday (21).

Due to the international crisis resulting from the pandemic of the COVID-19 virus, shows by several artists around the world have been postponed or cancelled. To compensate fans who will have to wait to see the group live, the musicians from Percival decided to live stream their performance.

The event will be broadcast free of charge on the band’s official channel at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm (EST).

The project known as Percival was founded in 1999 in Lubin, Poland, adopting a folk approach to their music. It is the twin brother of Percival Schuttenbach, that takes on the progressive folk metal side. The band plays traditional European music, especially from the Slavic peoples, but also original compositions referring to the pagan peoples of Europe in the Middle Ages.

To promote this return to the past, musicians use traditional instruments such as the long-necked lute, the Byzantine lyre, drums and flutes. The group has played at several festivals and historical reenactment events around Europe, including the famous Viking festival in Wolin, Poland.

The name Percival Schuttenbach comes from the gnome character in the stories of The Witcher saga, by the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The musicians’ passion for the author’s work would become the springboard for notoriety outside Europe, as the group would come to take part in the soundtrack of the game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, in 2015.
