Polish folk and medieval music band Lord Wind released their new album, The Forest is My Kingdom.

After several years without any updates, the Polish band returns with their sixth album, released by Warheart Records. For the first time, all songs were recorded entirely with old instruments, without using samples as in previous works. In addition, Lord Wind debuts as an actual band, since it was previously composed only by multi-instrumentalist Robert Fudali.

It is also the first time that the project uses female vocals. In addition to new compositions, the album brings together traditional songs from different European cultures and acoustic versions some of the band’s old songs. The songs are sung in Polish, Old Swedish, English and Russian. As for the ancient instruments used, they are European and Middle Eastern in origin.

The band was joined by percussionist Mirosław Rosiński for the recordings.

“After many years of silence, Lord Wind again summons dormant ghosts … In the ancient temples of forgotten Gods, once again, you will hear the melodies of your ancestors. Once again, Lord Wind’s music will take you on a long journey, towards the roots. Between forest distances and streams … into a world filled with magic and harmony of spheres.

The beautiful voices of vocalists Olga and Kasia finally filled Lord Wind’s music with a spoken word! Here is, the new Lord Wind – “The Forest is My Kingdom”, the music of forest bards and ancient temples. Woven from the rays of the sun piercing through forest shadows … An open gate to another world where magic is still saturated with the spirit and imagination of our ancestors.”

The band’s history begins in 1994 with a sonority that can be described as dark folk, characteristic of the first album Forgotten Songs. The project was created by Robert Fudali, also founder of the pagan/Viking metal band, Graveland.

Over the years, the project has taken on a more epic sound, as can be heard in Heralds of Fight, Rites of the Valkyries and Atlantean Monument. The shift to Folk music came in Ales Stenar, with the introduction of traditional instruments combined with synthesizers.

Lord Wind’s music has been used in several editions of the famous Polish Viking and Slavic festival Wolin. However, their first live performance did not occur until 2018.
