German Pagan folk band Faun announced singer and multi-instrumentalist Adaya as a replacement for Fiona Rüggeberg, who left the band in February.

Apart from being an accomplished singer, the musician also plays Celtic harp, bagpipes, various flutes, bouzouki, guitar, bodhran, banjo, lyra and many more instruments. She even wrote her first song when she was 11!

Adaya has roots all over Europe, being the daughter of German parents and living alternatively in Greece and in Switzerland, where she dwells in a house in the forest near Hasle-Rüegsau. Musically, she found herself at home closer to the Celtic tradition. She has already released two solo CDs and played in some medieval bands, such as Kel Amrûn.

Faun’s Oliver S. Tyr said in an interview with the organizers of Castlefest’ that “she came at the right moment”, but that he didn’t believe it was a coincidence. Indeed, it appears she is already very well integrated into the band.

“With her warm folk voice and her instrumental skills she had us immediately under her spell. So we are already writing new songs together and may announce at this point that our musical journey will be rougher, more folk and a lot more archaic again.”
